COMING SOON, to Youngsville Television! We are happy to announce Crown Media has sent us new equipment that will enable us to add this channel. The new equipment will allow us to add this channel but it will be in MPEG4 only. We hope the change in equipment will resolve the issue a few TVs are having with the audio format the old digital signal was being sent to us in. We will be doing this update and addition between Christmas and the New Year so as NOT to effect your Christmas movie viewing.

Channel Duplication
Beginning Oct 22 2019, YTV will begin eliminating duplicate of digital channels. This will effect the following channels:
- 301 OutDoor Channel(11/15/19)
- 502– DIY(11/15/19)
- 503– Travel(10/28/19)*
- 504 -Food(11/15/19)
- 506– HGTV(11/15/19)
- 514 – SCI(11/15/19)
- 520 – A&E(11/15/19)
- 521 – History(11/15/19)
- 607– Lifetime(11/15/19)
- 609– Hallmark (10/22/19)*
- 610-Hallmark M&M (10/22/19)*
- 806-GAC(11/15/19)
*A date (10/–/19) after channel indicates the day it stopped
These channels where duplicated for various reasons when we went full digital:
609 & 610 – audio format that a few TVs could not use, this means if you do not receive audio it is the TV’s tuner.
301, 514, 521, 520, 607– Are being transmitted to us in MPEG4 only.
502, 503, 504, 506, 806 -Where being “miss handled” by set top boxes. They will now be in MPEG4 only.
We can not continue to duel broadcast these channels. The decision to stop it was held off as long as possible but the tipping point was the Discovery channel provider purchasing 5 channels and is converting them to MPEG4. With more providers switching to transmitting MPEG4 only to their satellites, they are often willing to provide the equipment to us in the transmitted format. If your TV gets “audio only” on channels 134 & 135 then your TV can not process MPEG4. This is the format that our providers are going to. We down converted for more than a year to provide time for those that have TVs that can not process it to replace their TVs. Currently 134-RFDTV, 135-Cowboy Channel, and 701-706 Showtime are already in MPEG4 ONLY. We need to move forward with the technology. Back converting is not a responsible use of our recourses.
SUN OUTAGES FALL 2019
It is that time of the year again. Hard to believe when the sun can be elusive here this time of year, but it does interfere with the signals we receive form the satellites orbiting the earth. This fall the dates will be October 4 – October 14 and will last approximately 10-19 minutes.
WQLN TV – NOV 30-OCT 1- DO NOT RESCAN!
From their web site:
“WQLN TV will experience an outage from Monday, September 30 through Tuesday, October 1, while we replace our antenna. After the installation is complete and if you watch WQLN using an antenna, you will need to rescan your TV to continue to receive our signal”
You do not need to rescan. We have to re program the head end equipment to the new frequency, the channel location on YTV will not change.
WJET-24 and WFXP-66
NOTICE
Both WJET-24 and WFXP-66, YTV channels 6 and 8 and sub channels, will be lowering their signal strength from 8am – 8pm for next few days. They are doing this to safely preform maintenance on their tower in Erie. This means during the hours of 8am-8pm the signal is too weak to reach our towers on Hull Hill. Therefore, between the hours of 8am and 8pm we will not be able to carry these channels and their sub channels. These channels should return after 8pm daily. DO NOT RESCAN YOUR TV while these channels are off during the day!!!!
For more in depth information and video of them working on the tower please visit their web site.
TCT & LightTV
A few weeks ago TCT and its subchannel LightTV moved frequencies from UHF to VHF. We where not sure at the time if we could re acquire them with the antennas that we have on the tower or via satellite. We are happy to announce we where able to get both channels back on Saturday 8/17/19. LightTV is back on channel 4 and TCT is back on channel 124. Channel 116 analog will remain WSEE Weather and not go back to being LightTV.
Rescanning constently….
I keep getting reports that people have to keep rescanning. We have done NO changes that require you to do this since we moved the Weather Channel to digital 116. IF you are continually rescanning then there is a line issue between the drop to your home and TV. The only way we know you are not getting all your channels or clear pictures is if you call the office. If there are ANY nicks, cuts, kinks, sharp bends,…Damage to the line it causes a variety of issues. Also old lines cause problems, we are still finding 1950’s Copper lines on/in houses but most of what we see is 1970’s RG59, 1990’s RG6. The copper and RG59 are not designed to pass digital frequencies, they can/may for a time but do so with missing channels, pixeling on digital and snow on analog channels. The 1990’s RGs lets electrical interference into the lines, due to only being single shielded and the crimp ends come loose or we have had them just fall off the end of the cable.
So if your channel 2 (analog), 5 (analog), and 116 (Light tv) are snowy, then there is a problem.
